


Segment 1 Driver Education Courses: |
Course Description: Segment 1 courses include 24 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, and 4 hours of observation time. Classroom and driving instruction will be integrated and related, which means that the classroom and driving instruction will occur during the same time period. |

Earning a Segment 1 Certificate of Completion: |
For students to be issued a Segment 1 certificate of completion, they must successfully complete both the classroom AND driving instruction portions of the course.
The driver education Segment 1 certificate of completion is not a permit to drive and cannot be treated as a driver license. After completing Segment 1, the student and parent must go to the Secretary of State branch office to apply for a Level 1 driver license. |

Course Description: Segment 2 courses include 6 hours of classroom instruction. |

Certified instructors are available for private behind-the-wheel instruction. Rate = $50.00 per hour. |
